WHERE WE ARE TODAY (9/20/04)

Perhaps you think that our consciousness is so sadly deficient and our planet is in such a mess – how could we sink so low. Maybe turning around your thinking to view how FAR we have evolved can be an eye-opener.

If we were to travel back in time several thousand of years and stand in front of a person living at that time, how do you think they would view us and how would we view them? Would we see them as being perfectly content, without fears, without wars, without famine or disease, or other daily challenges?

How would they understand us? At the time of Columbus native peoples couldn’t see the ships because there was no experience of them in their lives, no vocabulary for them. It took a while for them to be able to grasp what ships were.

Would people living thousands of years ago see us as being exactly like they are, as human beings? If you were to talk with a person living thousands of years ago, would you talk with them about what is in your reality: driving around to stores for food and clothing, going to nightclubs, having global awareness, a credit card, iris scanning, knowing about the environmental effects of depleting the rain forests and chemicals pollutants, about computer technology, genetic engineering, vaccines, space flight and deep sea exploration? Would they even understand the concepts of all of these things?

Would a person long ago have even considered that what they do effects the environment, or were they too busy with survival to think about such things? Maybe they took it for granted that the earth renews herself on her own and what humans do is of little consequence? Maybe a tribe here and there felt a different connection with the earth and only used what they needed and never took more, feeling grateful for whatever they got, honoring all life they encountered?

Would a person long ago cared what happened on the other side of the planet? Or, did their awareness only include their immediate surroundings and what they could see directly above them in the sky? Maybe they didn’t even know there were people in other places, and the notion of a telephone or a train would be totally lost on them? If they lived in what is now America, would they have known about ostriches? Would they have realized that what they thought and felt would effect everyone else on the planet, and even affect the weather?

When long ago people were bleeding sick patients believing it cured them from the plague, when in actuality that practice only made people weaker and sicker, could they have thought of a vaccine or a cure that one could swallow, suck on, or inject? Would heart or brain surgery have been a reality for them?

Generally, we have come VERY far in our levels of awareness, and that has effected us cellularly, physically, mentally, spiritually – in every way. Even those people we see living in ways that we consider to be primitive. I think because of this we vibrate so much faster today than ever before so that we would be a shimmer of fluid light to these ancient peoples. We have a consciousness that is aware that we are connected to billions of other people on our planet and much more in the cosmos. Most of us know that what we do has consequences and many of us try to do what we feel is right for ourselves and the future. How can we deny this and put ourselves down for this grand evolution? (Sure, there’s always room for improvement and that is part of the continuing process of evolution.) Sometimes we need to take a look around us, to consider what was and what is and feel a sense of amazement and thanks for being where we are today.
