INSANITY - TO ALL OF YOU WHO THINK YOU HAVE TO "SAVE TERRI"

I've still been following all sides to the Terri Schiavo story. I love hearing how Michael Schiavo and his attorney, George Felos, are very metaphysically oriented. Felos does yoga and meditation. He says, "Well, what we are in essence can't be described by words," he says. "The mind is finite, and what we are is infinite. We know what we're not. We're not the body. We're not the mind. We're not our thoughts. We're not our emotions. In essence. we're spiritual beings." He also adds, "You can't separate your work life from your spiritual life," he says. [St. Petersburg Times, Online Floridian, May 26, 2001.]

Now why are these ideas so threatening to some people? Especially religious people who claim to love God and think they're spiritual? How is it that people who are in touch with their own soul and found their own spirituality and inner peace (aha, maybe that's the fear, eh?) is enough to warrant death threats? To call people who are following someone's wishes murderers? That would make these threateners what? More holy? More understanding? More religious? More valid? I say, it makes them more insane. I also think people just don't have enough to do, so they have to get dramatic. I draw your attention to my articles on Martyrdom, and Questions & Answers from Ha'Orah, because, pathetically, some people have pleasure in making Terri a martyr, the Joan of Arc of America, and these articles will explain more about this old and harmful phenomenon. Ask yourselves if you think Terri and this entire situation has a martyr energy to it...there might be some jewels in this examination.

It's astonishing and really aggrevating to me that some people sure find it hard to accept that Michael and Terri Schiavo could have actually made that pact about not being kept alive artificially. They'd rather force people (someone they don't even know) to artifically keep alive a person whose brain is barely there and whose soul isn't fully in the body anyway. Why? I keep asking, "What's their payoff? Whose backing them financially?" (Religious organizations and lobbyists, and the Schindler's, that's who.) I don't see love for Terri from her family. I see fearful, ignorant people who want to CONTROL Terri AND Michael, want Terri to be what she isn't, and use religion and bullshit explanations about Terri's suffering to get their way. If they want to use religion, they could site that once a couple marries, they become one, and the husband is in charge. How do you think that would fly with the Schindler's? They want to dictate what Terri can or cannot have, and even where she should be buried! Terri was an adult woman when she married Michael Schiavo. Who can't cut the umbilical cord and accept that? Who fears God and death? Well, hell, A LOT OF PEOPLE. Why? Because they have no idea what happens beyond the limited physical existence.

It's not enough that over a dozen courts all saw and heard the same evidence not to reinsert the feeding tube, they have to keep pushing it. And if they don't, other religious fanatics will. FOR WHAT PURPOSE? And do they really give a shit about Terri's free will? They have changed their story for fifteen years to whatever suits their agenda. Michael Schiavo has been consistent. What life are they expecting Terri to live? She won't suddenly come back to her complete self. Why can't they, or you, let her go? Who are you saving, and what gives you the right to interfere in their lives and to think you know what Terri should do better than anyone else? What petty-minded busy-bodies. If you need to pray for Terri, why not pray for what is best for her and let her and God decide?

Psychic John Edward was recently on Fox & Friends and was right on, in my opinion, about spirit. He also knows that Terri's soul is very aware of what's going on, even though she's not really in her body. He said that God gave us free will - that's right. What is Terri thinking and feeling? My impression is that she knows that what is being done by some people comes from support, love and compassion, and that from others it is a sickness and misunderstanding. She has compassion, too. And she really wishes everyone would just stop it and let her be because it's about HER OWN LIFE. In her mind, she has been physically dead for a long time and had enough of just lying there. The only thing I think she does need and is probably getting from hospice care, even though you won't hear of it on the news, is some kind of hydration. They are not letting her suffer. Don't be naive: these are professional care-givers. Please also know that Terri isn't the only person in the hospice. The protestors are preventing people from visiting their loved ones, blocking the roads, causing a lot of noise and are disrespectful towards those in the hospice.

Why is Terri still here even though her kidneys don't work and most of her brain is liquified and she hasn't had any food in eleven days? Perhaps this is her service to others; for people to face their own thoughts, fears, illusions, and the purpose of religion and politics? And, to get very clear about your own living will. For this, I say thank you to Terri.

For anyone wondering - yes, I've been in the situation where a loved one was not kept alive through artificial means and she died very peacefully, without any pain...you could see that on her face. When you love someone, you just know when the timing is right for doing the right thing for them. In the past, in Native American cultures, the infirmed or elderly would just pick up and walk out into the wilderness to die. They didn't want to be burden to their families and knew their time was up. Why make a huge fuss over it? It's part of life, and it's the next step into a new life.

What is insanity? Repetition, the inability to change, to see something new, try something different, step out of your little world and dare to contact another soul and find out what they are feeling. Think for yourself, meditate for yourself, talk to God on your own. Ask and listen. Can you put someone else's wishes ahead of your own agenda? Can you take responsibility for your own life (write your own living will and make sure you get what you want), and let others do the same for their own? Can you be TRULY LOVING and sane enough to do that?

Here's an interview with the neurologist who examined Terri, and a photo of her brain scan. See for yourselves.

March 31, 2005: Terri died this morning and thank god she's out of that condition and the media and religious circus.

April 2, 2005: Pope John Paul II died - he did not want to be kept alive artifically, nor to be resusitated if he died. That was respected and carried out. BUT, when Terri Schiavo died the same way, the Pope and church called it murder! Not only that, but the church stuck their nose in her private business and in our politics.
